The Samsung self-repair program now includes 50 devices, including foldables.

Samsung has added additional gadgets rapidly after commencing its self-repair program in August 2022. Another upgrade this week increases the total to 50 gadgets, including smartphones, tablets, TVs, laptops, monitors, soundbars, and a projector.

The Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Book 2 series, and Freestyle 2 projector are among the 14 new gadgets.

Samsung is also adding speakers, SIM trays, side keys, and volume buttons to Galaxy phones and tablets. Displays, charging connections, and back glass are included. In the Galaxy book line, speaker and fan fixes are added. Users may change TV/monitor ports and components “which can be fixed with common tools like a Phillips-head screwdriver.”

Samsung is teaming with Encompass Supply Chain Solutions to provide better component deals. The firm has a multi-year cooperation agreement with iFixit. Samsung’s tool and part access are more like Google’s.

Apple has been criticized for ‘parts-pairing,’ which binds a component’s serial number to the phone, making third-party components harder to use. The fight has been a sticking issue for Oregon’s proposed right to repair law, which expands on California’s previous legislation and adds parts pairing restrictions.
