Shopify has recently acquired Checkout Blocks, a move that will benefit Shopify Plus merchants by enabling them to easily customise their checkout process without any coding. This enhancement aims to improve the overall customer experience and has the potential to increase sales for these merchants.

Since September 2022, Shopify has offered checkout blocks. This powerful tool empowers merchants to personalise their checkout experience with a wide range of features. Enhancements include AI recommendations, custom content options like banners, images, and headlines, as well as the ability to add custom fields for gift messages or delivery notes. Additionally, merchants can offer discounts, validate email addresses, and create personalised order status and thank-you pages. The possibilities are endless!

Over 850 merchants, including popular brands like Olipop and Kosas, trust Checkout Blocks. This checkout app is highly regarded and widely used on Shopify.

Meet Gil Greenberg, the founder of Checkout Blocks, who recently announced the acquisition news through X. He views this development as a chance to propel his company to greater success. As part of the deal, the company is offering its Starter plan, originally priced at $99/month, for free to all merchants on Shopify Plus, which starts at $2,300/month.

Since the beginning, our aim has been to assist a large number of Shopify merchants in personalising their checkouts. This acquisition will enable us to thrive on a larger scale,” Greenberg wrote.

Shopify did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

“Checkout Blocks has an incredibly skilled team that has created an exceptional product, allowing merchants to access personalised extensibility,” stated a representative from Shopify in a statement to Eltrys. “We are excited to have them join Shopify as we continue to work towards our goal of improving commerce for all.”
