Kajabi, the video and web hosting platform for content creators to sell online courses, has recently unveiled its new branded mobile app. This exciting development allows users to effortlessly host their own personalised native app on both the App Store and Google Play.
While Kajabi already offers a mobile app for hosting online courses, this new product provides creators with the ability to have greater control over the user experience and engage with customers in a fresh and innovative manner. App creators have the ability to personalise various aspects of their app, such as the icon, login screen, layout, and content. This includes customising the welcome screen, explore page, push notifications, custom links, carousels showcasing online courses, and other in-app purchases like bundle offers. Additionally, users can customise the AI chat assistant in the app to respond to their inquiries.
“Our main focus has always been to boost commerce for creators,” Sean Kim, Kajabi’s chief product officer and former head of product at TikTok, shared with Eltrys. We dedicate our resources to assist you in achieving your financial goals, be it earning your first dollar, achieving profitability, or achieving financial freedom. We designed our latest product, the branded mobile app, to help our customers boost their commerce and achieve their business goals.
According to user data from Kajabi, creators have expressed a strong desire for branded apps. A significant majority, 62%, consider a branded app to be essential for their businesses. According to the survey, a majority of respondents (55%) expressed their willingness to invest a monthly amount of $100 for a personalised app with their own branding.
Kajabi has been conducting product testing with more than 800 beta users. It is now accessible to all Kajabi users.
In contrast to the lengthy and expensive traditional app development process, Kajabi presents its offering as a more affordable solution. Kajabi provides creators with significant time and cost savings by creating pre-built applications that can launch within weeks. This proposition provides reassurance for creators who have previously invested in app development that didn’t meet their expectations.
One Kajabi client, nutritionist Raquel Britzke, shared her experience of investing $10,000 in building an app that didn’t meet her expectations.
I attempted to develop my own app in the past, but unfortunately, it did not yield the desired results. It’s quite a demanding task, and I invested a significant amount of effort, time, and resources into developing the app… Ensuring that the app caters to a substantial user base is of utmost importance,” she emphasised. “With thousands of people relying on our services, we must prioritise the functionality and usability of the app.” Now Britzke can efficiently migrate her current customers to an app that is powered by Kajabi and specifically designed to handle all her instructional videos, she explained.
While Kajabi offers a more cost-effective option for building a branded app, it is still a financial commitment. The add-on, which costs between $89 and $199 per month, is only available to creators who have courses on the platform. The more expensive plan includes a community feature that allows customers to interact with creators through live video calls and chats, participate in meetups, and take on challenges.
Kajabi provides three subscription options: Basic, Growth, and Pro, each with different pricing tiers.
At present, Kajabi exclusively allows for the sale of courses as one-time purchases. However, there are plans in motion to introduce the option of subscriptions in the near future. Additionally, the company intends to launch community and coaching products for purchase within the app. Apple and Google charge a 30% fee for all in-app purchases, while companies with an annual revenue of less than $1 million only pay 15%.
Furthermore, the company has stated its commitment to continuous improvement and the addition of new features. Furthermore, all apps will receive automatic updates. While Kajabi does not currently provide coding customisations, plans are in place to integrate customisable widgets seamlessly into the app. We are developing additional features such as offline content viewing, engaging quizzes, and customised experiences.
There are several competitors in the no-code app-building space, such as Wix, Bubble, Vidapp, Passion.io, and Thinkific. Each of these companies has its own pricing structure, ranging from $29 to $529 per month.
