Many individuals in the tech industry frequently assert that data has become as valuable as oil. That statement, introduced by British mathematician Clive Humby, clearly suggests the importance of data.

Information regarding an individual’s well-being has the potential to offer valuable understanding and enhance results. According to the World Economic Forum, medical professionals currently only use 3% of patient data. While doctors recognize the value of patient data, they are unable to dedicate the necessary time to thoroughly review every aspect of the medical record.

About the mission of Regard

Regard is a digital health startup that was founded in 2017. Our mission is to assist physicians in saving time and enhancing the accuracy of diagnosis by utilizing AI to analyze patients’ health data.

Regard made an announcement on Thursday about successfully raising a $61 million Series B round. The funding was led by Oak HC/FT, with participation from Cedars-Sinai Health Ventures and existing investors TenOneTen, Calibrate Ventures, and Techstars. According to a source familiar with the matter, the company’s current valuation stands at $350 million.

The company’s software utilizes advanced algorithms to analyze extensive data from medical charts, enabling doctors to efficiently identify and diagnose various health conditions.

According to Eli Ben-Joseph, co-founder and CEO of Regard, doctors rely on our product to ensure that no crucial information is overlooked in the data, as he mentioned in an interview with Eltrys. Every doctor we collaborate with has a compelling narrative: “I utilized your product and discovered something that revolutionized my approach to treating this patient.”

According to Ben-Joseph, Regard has proven invaluable in assisting a general physician in detecting atrial fibrillation, a condition that went unnoticed by the cardiologist. According to him, she now believes it would be irresponsible to not utilize our product.

However, Regard is highly valued by more than just medical professionals. Hospital financial administrators also highly appreciate it, as mentioned by Ben-Joseph. The ability to identify new conditions opens up new billing opportunities for medical systems.

The company experienced a significant increase in revenue in 2023, growing by 4.5 times. According to Ben-Joseph, they are poised to achieve a comparable level of growth this year. The company is confident in achieving profitability in the next two years.

Investors are thrilled by the rapid growth.

According to Nancy Brown, a general partner at Oak HC/FT, the team was highly impressed with [Regard] due to its ability to significantly improve physician productivity, reduce burnout, ensure proper coding, and enhance clinical outcomes.

With over 30 years of experience as an operator and investor in healthcare technology, Brown has long held the vision of a computer that could extract valuable insights from patient information. “The lack of technology has hindered that dream over the years,” she remarked. That’s why, when she met Ben-Joseph at a healthcare conference earlier this year, she immediately realized that Regard is the technology she had been envisioning.

Regard has successfully onboarded several prominent healthcare systems since its product launch in 2021. These include Banner Health, a leading health provider in Arizona; Sentara Healthcare, based in Virginia; Montefiore Medical Center in New York; and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, located in Los Angeles. Business Insider had previously reported some details of its latest funding round.

According to Ben-Joseph, the company’s rivals consist of Engage One, a product created by the multinational conglomerate 3M, as well as the startup Pieces.

Brown is confident that Regard is the top player in the industry. According to Brown, they are a highly successful company that is achieving impressive results for their clients, with excellent profit margins and a strong return on investment.
