Designing a pair of wireless earbuds can be approached in various ways. Unfortunately, there are numerous incorrect options available. Samsung experimented with several options before ultimately choosing the in-ear Galaxy Buds, which have become popular among many users. Despite its many versions, the company decided to avoid Apple’s iconic AirPods with stems.
That was a significant shift during this week’s Unpacked 2024 event, as Samsung unveiled the impressive Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. The earbuds seem to be going through an identity crisis reminiscent of a certain tech giant. While not exact replicas, these models share enough similarities to catch attention, especially the white ones. That includes the elongated charging cases, which bear a striking resemblance to the one that accompanies the AirPods Pros, albeit with a clear top.
On the other hand, the silver versions have noticeable design variations that set them apart. Introducing the remarkable addition of an LED color strip on the stems, now referred to as the “Blade.” This change brings a significant aesthetic enhancement. The Blade Lights add a touch of excitement to the latest addition, which also includes intuitive swipe and click functionalities.
It’s no surprise that many hardware manufacturers choose to use the form factor. One of the main drawbacks of the standard Galaxy Buds is the limited surface area available for controls. One noticeable design distinction is the blade’s precise 90-degree angle, which contrasts with the AirPods’ more gentle curve.
Professionals opt for silicone ear tips. They’re not included on the standard model, similar to Apple’s offerings. It’s important to note that everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to the taste of earbuds. Aside from personal preferences, it’s important to consider that everyone’s ears have unique shapes. In my opinion, I prefer the comfort and secure fit of silicone tips over any other option.
This is Samsung’s stance on the matter: “The Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro provide users with two distinct design options that are tailored for specific purposes. The Buds 3 Pro offers a Canal Type design, perfect for those seeking a truly immersive sound experience. On the other hand, the Buds 3 features an open-type design, ideal for individuals who value versatility and extended usage in various situations.
The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offers adaptive active noise cancellation, thanks to the built-in microphones, along with siren and voice detection capabilities. The Buds 3 are available for preorder starting Wednesday and will be shipped out on July 24. The regular price for the standard model is $180, while the Pros are priced at $250.
