It has been three years since Life360 bought AirTag competitor Tile for $205 million. This Monday, the company revealed its newest batch of Bluetooth trackers to locate missing items boasting of sleeker designs with shiny new hues, such as aqua blue, green, navy blue, and pink. Also, the devices have a number of new and improved features that include an integrated SOS feature, an extended Bluetooth range, and more.

Since the family locator service bought Tile in 2021, it is now announcing new products. The product line-up also coincides with Life360’s transition to a public company.

Tile has updated all four of its trackers: the Tile Mate ($25), the versatile “everything tracker” tile for keys, backpacks, and more; the Tile Pro ($35), boasting its loudest ring and longest Bluetooth range; the Tile Slim ($30), cut to fit perfectly in wallets and passport holders; and the Tile Sticker ($25), the miniature device designed to stick to easily lost items such as a TV remote.

The killer feature, however, is a new multi-function button that triggers a Life360 SOS alert. In case of an emergency, the user can triple-press for a silent alert to selected emergency contacts. This quick and subtle notification is sure to come in handy in situations wherein the user cannot make a call or text. A grace period of 15 seconds is given to all members where the alert can be turned off on the device using a simple swipe of the setting.

All users receive SOS alerts free of charge. Members may incur an additional cost for Life360, which enables alerts to third-party emergency dispatchers. Such third-party dispatchers will contact the member and interface with authorities such as police or emergency medical services. Life360 offers three subscriptions: Silver, $8 monthly; Gold, $15 monthly; and Platinum, $25 monthly.

“Our mission is to ensure that family members remain safe and connected with their loved ones,” said David Steinwedel, senior director of product at Life360, in an interview with Eltrys. “This is our first launch since the acquisition.” After quite some time and heavy work, we have nailed down that family safety and connections mean everything, and this is exactly what SOS means to us. This really sets this lineup apart and makes it very special.

Along with the SOS feature, other changes include increased Bluetooth range for Tile Mate, Slim, and Pro. The Tile Pro’s range has increased up to 500 feet—a bump over the previous 400 feet. Tile Mate, Sticker, and Pro are much louder, certainly as compared with the predecessor versions.

These new colourways are bright, fun, and playful, aimed at appealing to families who want to use different colours for different members or belongings to make identification that much more straightforward when sorting them up.

In 2022, Life360 merged its services with Tile.

This makes it possible for Tile users to use the Life360 app and its functionality, such as viewing where Tiled items are on the Life360 map and ringing the Tile to find items that are nearby. Both services could also have the capability to ring a lost phone, even in silence. Members of the Circle in Life360 are allowed to ring the tile in order to find items that happen to be nearby.
