DuckDuckGo browser may help you avoid being tracked by apps: Here’s how to activate the functionality.

DuckDuckGo’s browser app, a search engine that emphasizes user privacy, now enables Android users to reject third-party trackers in applications and games.

The ‘App Tracking Protection’ function, which had been in development for approximately a year, is now accessible to everyone. According to DuckDuckGo, the capability works offline and does not transfer any data to any servers, including the company’s own.

Once activated, it will alert users every day how many tracking attempts it has prevented on your device for a week before sending weekly results.

According to the search engine business, a few applications, such as browsers, Android Auto, YouTube, and WhatsApp, are by default banned from App Tracking Protection since they may create concerns.

How to Enable DuckDuckGo App Tracking Protection on Android

1. Download and install the DuckDuckGo browser from the Google Play Store on your Android smartphone.

2. Launch the app, hit the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the screen, and choose ‘Settings.’

3. Select ‘App Tracking Protection’ from the ‘Privacy’ section.

4. Now, activate the option, and your phone will prompt you to allow DuckDuckGo to establish a VPN connection. You’re done when you click the ‘OK’ button.

While DuckDuckGo’s App Tracking Protection is similar to Apple’s App Tracking Transparency, one major difference is that Apple’s implementation requires developers to stop tracking the user once the feature is enabled, whereas DuckDuckGo’s App Tracking Protection feature works by monitoring network traffic on the phone itself.
