Senator Warren blasts Apple for deactivating Beeper’s ‘iMessage to Android’ solution.

Google’s AI note-taking software is now available to all US customers over the age of 18, the company said on Friday. Along with a slew of other changes, the experimental software will use Google’s latest large language model, Gemini Pro, to “assist with document understanding and reasoning.”

The NotebookLM app may generate summaries and follow-up questions depending on the content of the documents you enter. In contrast to ordinary chatbots that absorb a large amount of useless material, NotebookLM focuses just on the articles it is given.

Google is actively developing the product’s functionality to include more than just summaries and queries.

NotebookLM users may now utilize extra tools to organize their well-selected notes into well-structured writing assignments. For example, you may choose a set of notes and command NotebookLM to create a new document, such as an outline for a movie, an email newsletter, or a marketing plan draft.

Furthermore, NotebookLM may now offer activities based on what you’re doing right now. Consider the following scenario: you are reading a source and have selected a paragraph. When you choose a text, NotebookLM will offer to summarize it in a new note for you or aid you in comprehending its contents. Consider another scenario in which you are writing a note. NotebookLM will offer to modify your prose or present appropriate ideas from your sources based on your previous work.

The internet titan is launching a new noteboard section to make it simpler for users to pin quotes from discussions or their own written notes. According to Google, customers who indicated a wish to be able to save their NotebookLM chats as notes made the new section a top request.

Google is also making a few small tweaks to the product. Instead of adding notes to a single notepad, NotebookLM now creates a new, independent note anytime you add one. When you click on the citation number in a chat response or a stored note, you will now be taken directly to the original statement in the source.

You may now hide the source if you just want to take notes. You can also choose which sources in your notebook to talk with by selecting each one individually in the source sidebar if you want NotebookLM’s AI to focus on those specific sources. Furthermore, Google now supports PDFs and copied text, so you may copy and paste information to begin a new source and alter the title once it has been established.

In addition to additional features, Google is expanding the product’s restrictions. Notebooks, for example, may now include up to 20 sources, and a source can now contain up to 200,000 words.

Before making this statement, the software giant made NotebookLM available to a restricted number of users for five months. Project Tailwind, Google’s “AI notebook for everyone” that was revealed earlier this year at Google I/O, was subsequently rebranded NotebookLM. At the time, Google said that students may use the app to organize their lecture notes and other resources for assignments.
