Captions, a video editor, now offers a social media manager for websites powered by AI.

Captions, the AI video editing application, is developing a new tool for websites to facilitate the videos’ content publishing schedule automatically. This also generates videos for particular dates, taking the subjects that will most interest the site.

It initiates a deep crawl of the website to extract the content, keywords, services offered, and key selling points. Once done, it constructs a strategic content plan. Currently, the social media strategy is focused on Instagram Reels and TikTok by using video content. This focus goes hand in glove with the video creation and editing at Captions. The company announced it would investigate other formats too in the months ahead.

It firmly believes that the tool has the potential to help a small cafe highlight chefs and certain dishes, and even create videos showcasing the services of a dental clinic. Its AI-powered social media manager also effectively factors in relevant seasonal trends.

In June this year, the startup launched a feature using which one can get automated creation and editing of a video with the help of just one prompt, leveraging 12 AI characters. These innovative tools use the content of a website in addition to relevant trends to create prompts that later produce videos based on such information. As a business tool, one is allowed to upload a seller’s profiles; this allows the creation of a digital twin of oneself, allowing the AI tool to create videos with that character. Furthermore, they can personalise their videos with their brand identity by customising colours, logos, and fonts.

In a recent conversation with Gaurav Misra, chief executive officer of Captions, he talked about how AI-generated videos would make creators who invest their own time and effort into creating authentic content for their businesses seem less authentic. He said this tool was, instead, a great resource for those people who cannot afford to make great content themselves.

“In this case, it does seem like these companies aren’t trying to go viral.” Rather, they’re trying to create a web presence and, well, trying to make sure their audience understands what their business is all about. “That’s pretty much what we help people try to do here,” he said.

Misra added that business owners are already juggling so many things, and with this AI social media manager, they will not have to climb the steep learning curve of video recording and editing for producing content.

In the future updates, the businesses would be able to add more pages other than their websites, thereby allowing AI to develop a more effective content strategy.

In July, Captions raised $60 million in Series C funding, adding new investors like Adobe Ventures, HubSpot Ventures, and Jared Leto to its roster of Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz. It said at the time it would build its own AI capabilities with the funds.

Captions has been in business for three and a half years, during which time we have raised a total of $100 million.” We have always remained cash-flow neutral. Misra said, “With the funds we have raised, we will invest in the AI sector, as the potential, according to me, is huge.”

Whatever you can capture with the camera today, you’ll be able to synthesise using AI soon enough.” Now, and going forward, we also take a leap in terms of fidelity. Eventually, we strive to build a place where there is no need for physical recording or processing of videos in order to share something that you want to keep for posterity.

It’s offering this feature with its $25 per month Max plan and its Scale plan, which goes for $70 monthly, for subscribers.
