OnePlus 12 will bring premier specifications at a cost.

Phone season is here. Samsung revealed the Galaxy S24 flagship last week, and the following several weeks will witness a flood of smartphones, including those unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February. Now is OnePlus’ turn to shine.

Oppo’s OnePlus 12 is its latest flagship. Top-tier firms no longer delay the newest process. The pricey phone has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 from late last year.

The “Trinity Engine,” an “advanced proprietary platform that intelligently unlocks,” is one of OnePlus’s buzzword-heavy upgrades to the entire smartphone’s hardware potential.

I understand if you started to glaze over. The system on a chip and 12 or 16GB of RAM are the key performance factors. Storage will be 256GB or 512GB. The robust 5,400mAh battery charges in 30 minutes with the 80W charger. Wireless charging takes twice as long.

Rear cameras include a 50-megapixel wide angle (with optical image stabilization), a 48-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 65-megapixel telephoto with 3x optical zoom. You can zoom up to 120x, but noise starts after 6x.

OnePlus also touts a new HDR algorithm. The algorithm “knows what it sees,” adjusting lighting and shadows, according to the business. This may apply to AI-based picture recognition, so the gadget understands when to capture someone.

OnePlus’ new “Master Mode” adds contrast, saturation, sharpness, and tint tweaks to Pro Mode. OnePlus claims sensors and Hassleblad algorithms provide a more “authentic” portrait mode.

OnePlus’ design is commendable. The company’s first foldable last year impressed many with its quality. Everyone talks about being influenced by expensive watches, but the “Emerald Flow” design is lovely, and OnePlus/Hasselblad makes a good camera bump.

The OnePlus 12 goes on sale on February 6 for $1,070 for the 12GB/256GB variant and $1,200 for the 16GB/512GB upgrade. Pre-orders begin today. Flagship specifications and costs. The newly released OnePlus 12R costs $500, less than half the price.
