Peak XV introduces AI startups to Silicon Valley.

The venture capital firm that split from Sequoia Capital last year is taking its portfolio companies from India, Southeast Asia, and Australia on an “immersion” trip to Silicon Valley this week to meet industry titans, the latest in its expanding offerings and networking flex.

According to a source with knowledge of the subject, 60 entrepreneurs—many of whom received funding from Peak XV’s extremely well-liked program Surge—would travel with business partners to meet industry leaders and tour AI research institutes.

The business announced strategy meetings with OpenAI, Nvidia, Sequoia partner Doug Leone, Uniphore CEO Umesh Sachdev, and DoorDash adviser Gokul Rajaram in an email that Eltrys saw.

The event, internally called “Immersion Week,” is the latest glimpse into Peak XV’s expanding portfolio beyond writing checks as venture capitalists compete for the best AI businesses worldwide.

Deep tech and AI companies are lacking in India, one of the biggest startup ecosystems. Few Indian companies are building huge language models. Peak XV and Lightspeed India supported Sarvam AI, which raised $41 million late last year and partnered with Microsoft last week.

Investors believe many Indian firms are planning new capabilities and international client acquisitions, which is where “Immersion” may help.

Peak XV, which has $2.5 billion to invest in the area, has aggressively built its bench strength and networking capabilities across regions since its split last year.

Peak XV did not reply directly to a Monday morning request for comment. The weekend email from Peak XV to portfolio businesses said the trip will “focus on building world-class products” and provide founders “a glimpse into the AI world.”

According to a source, Peak XV managing directors Shailendra Singh, Rajan Anandan, Harshjit Sethi, and Ashish Agrawal, and Surge partner Pieter Kemps are hosting the week.
