Podcorn co-founders Agnes Kozera and David Kierzkowski released their next app, Storiaverse, a short-form entertainment platform that combines animated video and textual material.
Storiaverse is an iOS and Android app for graphic novel readers and adult animation enthusiasts who wish to find creative tales in shortform animation.
“Our mission is to make Storiaverse the biggest storytelling platform and to make reading more immersive and engaging,” Kozera, who co-founded FameBit (which Google purchased in 2016), told Eltrys.
Our concept appeals to both literary and animation aficionados and might attract new audiences seeking amusement. She added, “Our patent-pending read-watch style lets visual readers enjoy reading.”
The Storiaverse “Read-Watch” format is just that. Swipe up on a story to view animated segments, then press to read. If they prefer reading the chapters first and then seeing the animation, they may skip the videos. Five- to 10-minute stories.
Storiaverse launched with 25 original science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, and humor titles. Josh Ryba, Jonathan Fontaine, and John M. Floyd, who have written for Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, among others, have contributed stories to the app.
HarperCollins is in partnership with the firm to adapt Madeleine Roux’s horror novel series Asylum and Joelle Charbonneau’s new fantasy series Dividing Eden. King Science (Science Akbar), a TikTok celebrity and freelance animator, is also working on an app-exclusive narrative.
For Storiaverse, over 100 creators and 100 tales are in production.
Storiaverse emerges as many artists worry about the future of TikTok, the ByteDance-owned short-form video app where many storytellers, including King Science with 13 million followers, showcase their work.
Creators may earn money on Storiaverse, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
“A large community of independent writers struggles for recognition and compensation. Kozera stated that Storiaverse rewards authors and animators for their contributions to the app, with the hope of modernizing their work and drawing in new readers. “The [compensation] fee varies based on story length and complexity,” she said.
The corporation may also copy competitors by adding advertisements, goods, and subscriptions. Kozera said product placement in videos is another possibility.
According to Storiaverse, there are hundreds of writer submissions. Creators can apply at Storiaverse.com. Once accepted, Storiaverse pairs authors with animators to bring their ideas to life.
Kozera said the business is establishing a Creator Suite, enabling creators to collaborate, get narrative performance information, and explore “more monetization opportunities.”
