Clicks Technology unveiled the iPhone Creator keyboard today. A nostalgic return to BlackBerry and Nokia, when tapping physical buttons was the apex of mobile communication, makes it less “the future” than an uncomfortable look back to a past we believed we had left behind.
“We use keyboards on our desktops, laptops, and tablets every day, so it’s kind of odd that we abandoned physical buttons on the smartphone,” said Clicks Technology co-founder Michael Fisher.
We still use actual buttons. There are many Bluetooth keyboards that work perfectly, but on-screen keyboards with swiping, predictive text, and spell-checking are better for on-the-go consumers. The small BlackBerry-style buttons were always a mess, and there are several reasons this innovation faded off.
Clicks combine the “benefits” of touch with typing. Clicks nearly double screen space by removing the keyboard when typing. HD clarity lets you see all your errors.
For those who miss typing on a physical keyboard, the Clicks Creation keyboard has genuine keys. As you type your memoirs on the fly, your fingertips hurt.
