Clubhouse now converts texts into audio messages.

Clubhouse, the once-popular live audio app, revealed today that users may now text friends in their personalized voice.

In response to user decline, Clubhouse introduced group audio conversations, where users may exchange asynchronous voice messages in Instagram Stories style.

Today, the business acknowledged that you may not be able to send voice messages. You may train your personalized voice, send SMS, and have friends hear them. The software alerts friends when the AI voice reads a message.

The business noted in a blog post that this function feels like a real-time discussion with a buddy.

Imagine texting a buddy and having them hear your words as if you uttered them. Your personalized voice makes chatting, typing, reading, and listening seamless, so you never lose that live conversation feel, the business added.

Even after reading a few sentences, Clubhouse says its AI can mimic your speech. The business warned the AI can’t replicate your laughter (so don’t enter “hahaha”).

If you’re uncomfortable recording, the firm can produce a voice. The company didn’t explain, but it’s presumably text-to-speech.

Currently, only the U.S. has this function.

The app has lost popularity in recent years. Its latest round was over $4 billion. It has laid off workers in recent years. However, last year, the corporation claimed a couple years of runway. The company is testing AI-powered tools to make buddy talks simpler in hopes of retaining members.

Last year, Apple introduced Personal Voice, which sounds like you. This is helpful for people in danger of losing their voice due to ALS.
