Windows iCloud app revamp by Apple

Apple has revamped the iCloud app for Windows to improve onboarding and content synchronization for iPhone and iPad customers without Macs.

A redesigned setup experience simplifies onboarding for the Windows 10 and 11 apps. It also syncs service status indicators to show how many objects have been downloaded or uploaded.

A physical security key may also be used to sign into Apple ID. The redesigned app also minimizes sign-in questions, improves photo-syncing with Microsoft Photos, and provides shortcuts to other Apple services.

Apple added browser alerts for Mail and Calendar on a PC, a customized home page with easy actions, and a slideshow display for photographs to iCloud.com in September.

Apple announced Windows applications for iCloud, Apple TV, and Apple Music in 2022. Apple Music and Apple TV were previewed last year to replace iTunes. These applications are now independent on Windows and out of preview. Users don’t require iTunes to manage devices using the Devices app. The iTunes app still exists, although it’s mostly for podcasts and audiobooks.
