Threads is experimenting with worldwide Instagram cross-posting.

Meta is encouraging more people to publish on Threads, its competitor to X. The firm informed Eltrys that it is offering users the ability to cross-post from Instagram to Threads with a simple toggle as part of its most recent trial.

A number of individuals reported earlier today that they had discovered the ability to limit cross-posting on their Instagram profiles. Cross-posting a single post would allow users to activate the capability for all of their posts at the same time.

Meta confirmed to Eltrys that they are currently conducting a worldwide test to enable users to cross-post photographs from Instagram to Threads. As a result, you will be unable to automatically submit reels to threads. Threads, on the other hand, might be a wonderful area to market your photography, given Instagram’s recent shift toward increasing its emphasis on video.

You are free to opt out of this experience at any moment, according to the corporation, which said that it is an opt-in experience. When users cross-post their Instagram posts to Thread, the system translates the caption into text for the Thread post, and converts hashtags into plain text.

Over the course of its existence, Meta has consistently promoted threads via its other domains, such as Facebook and Instagram. Over the course of the previous year, it began displaying a carousel of recommended posts from Threads on both Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, the social media business began testing cross-posting from Facebook to Threads earlier this year, after it had already begun testing it.

At the same time that Meta is conducting the cross-posting test, it is also running an active creator bonus program on Threads. We designed this programme to encourage accounts with a large number of followers to post on social networks. During the earnings call for the first quarter of 2024, Mark Zuckerberg said that Threads has now surpassed the milestone of 150 million monthly active users.
